Institute of Medical Terminology and Foreign Languages

The IFL provides teaching Latin Medical Terminology in the first academic year in the field of General Medicine and in the first and third academic year of Dentistry (including a study programme taught in English), and interdisciplinary study (Biomedicine) and is focused on acquiring the grammatical rules and principles of lexicology needed for the study of medicine and for clinical practice.  

Teaching of foreign languages (English, German) is provided in the third academic year in the field of General Medicine and the second year in the field of Dentistry and is focused on improving professional medical performance both in written and oral forms.
Teachers of foreign languages conduct professional seminars for PhD. study. Teaching staff of the IFL is involved in selection of students who are interested in study stays and internships abroad by testing their skills in a foreign language (English, German).

The Institute constantly develops contacts with domestic and foreign partners and institutions within Staff Mobility for Teaching.

Teachers are involved in writing professional articles, in producing teaching materials and textbooks focused on specific foreign-language preparation of medical students and provide professional consultations in the field of specific foreign-language communication and technical terminology. They actively participate in domestic and foreign conferences with presenting the results of their scientific activities.
