On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of UNIcert®LUCE and the 70th anniversary of language teaching at the Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava, an international scientific conference entitled QUALITY ASSURANCE OF LANGUAGE PROGRAMMES AT EUROPEAN HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS VIII was held on 5-6 October 2023. The conference, organized by the Institute of Medical Terminology and Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava, was held under the auspices of Juraj Payer, MD, PhD, MPH, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in Bratislava. The conference was opened with a solemn speech by the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, MUDr. Alexandra Bražinová, PhD., MPH, and on behalf of the Dean, she handed over the award to the Head of the Institute of Medical Terminology and Foreign Languages, PhDr. Tomáš Hamar, PhD., a commemorative medal on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of language teaching at the Faculty of Medicine and a diploma for the translation of the current version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) into Slovak and Latin, created by the staff of the Institute of Medical Terminology and Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Medicine. 

The aim of the conference was to create a platform for the exchange of theoretical knowledge and practical experience concerning language education at universities in accordance with the language policy of the European Union. We consider the conference very successful in this respect and look forward to further projects and collaborations in this field.
