Recognition of Subjects

Recognition of completed subjects

According to the Study Regulations Faculty of Medicine Comenius University Bratislava, Art.20 - Recognition of the Completion of the Subjects

(1) Recognition of completion of the subject is the award of a subject grade and the subsequent acquisition of the appropriate number of credits, which are assigned to the subject, based on the part of study completed in the past.

(2) A student who has previously studied at a higher education institution and whose studies have not been regularly completed may apply for recognition of the completion of subjects if

a) no more than seven years have elapsed from the assessment date,
b) they have been graded A to D or equivalent, and
c) they are part of studies according to the current study programme or are equivalent in content to compulsory subjects or compulsory elective subjects in studies according to the current study programme.

(3) A student of doctor studies may not be awarded credits for successfully completed subjects in studies that have already been regularly completed and for which an academic degree has been awarded, and for subjects taken by him/her in the first degree (Bachelor's degree) study programme.

(4) Completion of state examinations cannot be recognised, except for a dissertation examination.

(5) A student may request recognition of completed subjects prior to the beginning of the instructional part of the semester of the academic year or by the end of the 2nd week of the instructional part of the semester at the latest. Upon request, the student shall attach to the application the information sheets of subjects he/she has successfully completed if he/she has successfully completed the subjects at another faculty of Comenius University or another higher education institution.

(6) The Dean shall decide on the recognition of the completion of the subjects after the statement of the teachers of the subjects for which the student requests recognition of completion. If a student requests recognition of completed subjects taken in the same field of study at the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University, the statement of the teachers is not required. The Dean's decision on whether or not to recognise the completion of subjects is final and cannot be appealed. 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR RECOGNITION OF COMPLETED SUBJECTS

Click to download : the Request (General Medicine, Dentistry) has to be made on the enclosed form (it is necessary to write the name of the University, Faculty, name of subject, date of obtaining the evaluation and the evaluation/grade). The parts of the request has to be:

- original Certificate of Study Results confirming the previous study in English or in Slovak language(evaluation/grade, not percentages rating).  It must be signed and stamped by the representative of the Faculty,

- original course Sylabus summary for each subject from the previous study in English or in Slovak language (the written contents of the subjects). It must be signed and stamped by the representative of the Faculty.

 - submiting the Confirmation of fulfilling all conditions to advance to the next year of study from the previous Faculty.
