Imaging methods of thorax, bones and spine.

 

Basic principles, indications and possibilities of use of radiology imaging methods.

 

Plain film – chest Xray, lung diseases. CT, MR imaging of thorax, heart and other surrounding structures.

 

Basics of musculoskeleteal radiology – Xray, CT, MRI.

 

Practical overview of images, reporting radiology images.

Neuroradiology.

 

Basic principles, indications and possibilities of use in neuroradiology.

 

Brain trauma, tumors, inflammatory diseases of brain, other pathologies.

 

New imaging methods (functional MRI, tractography) in neuroradiology.

 

Practical overview of images, CT and MR of brain, reporting.

Basic principles of interventional radiology.

 

Abdominal radiology basics.

 

Gynecologic radiology basics.

 

Practical overview of images, CT and MR of brain, reporting.

 - basic principles of radiation protection for dentists

 

 - imaging methods used in dentistry

 

 - indications and contraindications of intraoral and extraoral X-rays

 

 - radiologic anatomy of maxillofacial region and dental tissues

 

 - pathological changes in maxillofacial region and dental tissues on X-rays

 

 

Skills:

 

 - assessment of normal panoramic and intraoral X-rays

 

 - diagnosis of pathologies in maxillofacial region and dental pathologies based on X-rays

 - methods and techniques of intraoral and panoramic X-rays

 

Course syllabus summary:

1.Dental X-ray equipments.

2.Technical requirements for dental X-ray station.

3.Radiological anatomy of the facial skeleton.

4.General characteristics and classification of pathologies in maxillofacial region (radiolucency/radioopacity), foreign bodies, infections, cysts.

5.Radiology of orthodontic anomalies. Pathology of maxillary sinusesand salivary glands.

6.Fractures in maxillofacial region, systemic disease.

7.Tumors in maxillofacial region.

8.Importance of radiology in reconstructive dentistry.

9.Basic criteria for an X-ray image in periodontology.

10.Radiology of temporomandibular joint. Radiology in pediatric dentistry.
