Winter semester

Lectures in Internal Medicine 4 are held online using MS Teams according the time schedule for the semester. The detailed schedule of the lectures you can find on the guarantee department web site.

The schedule of practicals for each study group you can find on the web sites of the departments, on which do you have the practical clinical training (according the time schedule for the semester). 

Assessment of the student's study results is performed especially by oral examination (E)A written test is a compulsory part of the examination. Students will have the exam at guarantee department. Tests and exams are held during the examination period. Publishing the list of examination questions is provided by the Head of the Clinic at least one month before the first possible date of the examination on the web page.

During November will be published also the terms and also the dividing of the students between the department.  

A student signs up for an examination and signs out electronically via Academic Information System AIS. Students can sign up for exam only after completing of all presences on practicals.

A part of the examination is also a written test. Only after succesfull passing of the test can the student go to to the oral part of the exam. A test is considered successfully passed if the student has at least 60% correct answers. If a student has less than 60% correct answers, his/her exam will be evaluated "Fx" and the test will have to be repeated. Every student can repeat the test twice.

PRACTICALS in Internal medicine 4

Content: endocrinology, diabetology and nephrology.

Students should acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnosing and treating the underlying disease units in endocrinology, diabetology and nephrology. Understand the pathophysiologic nature of the disease. Acquire knowledge for differential diagnostic consideration.

Practicals: 
  1. 1. Clinical situations in diseases of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland

    2. Clinical situations in diseases of the thyroid gland and parathyroid glands.

    3. Clinical situations in diseases of the adrenal glands.

    4. Differential diagnosis of secondary hypertension.

    5. Management of a patient with diabetes mellitus. Acute and chronic         complications of DM.

    6. The main clinical manifestations of kidney disease. Urine examination. Chemical examination of urine (practical examples). Microscopic examination of urine (practical examples). Evaluation of basic biochemical findings in nephrology.

    7. Nephrotic syndrome. Glomerulonephritis - classification, clinical picture and therapy. Glomerulopathy. Inflammation of the kidneys and urinary tract.

    8. Renal failure. Causes of renal failure. Etiopathogenesis and diagnosis of acute renal failure. Etiopathogenesis and diagnosis of acute and chronic renal failure. Renal failure therapy - dialysis. Indications and contraindications of dialysis.

     

 Credit test is written before oral exam, during examination period. 

EXAM in Internal Medicine - winter semester

After fulfilling the criteria of 100% participation in internships the student can apply for term exams.

Mandatory part of the exam is a written test. A test is considered passed if a student reaches at least 60 % of correct answers. If a student receives less than 60 % correct answers, the test will be marked out " Fx " and the test must be repeated - student can not continue to the oral part of the exam. Every student can repeat the test twice.

Successful passing the written test is followed by oral examination. Condition for successful completion of the exam is:
(1) successful completion of a written test
(2) successfully answering of three questions

For assesement of study results is used a grading scale consisting of 6 levels:

If the student fails the oral examination during at the next term he does not need to retake the test - the test is not written.

Students will have the exam at 5. Department of Internal medicine, RuÅžinovska Street. In november 2018 the department will publish the terms on the website and in AIS.  A student signs up for an examination and signs out electronically via Academic Information System AIS. 

Summer Semester

Department responsible for teaching is in summer semester 2021/22  guarantee department, together with highly specialized departments -   Phthisiology, Department of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology,  Department of geriatry and  Department of Internal Medicine

 

Lectures and practical training

The content of teaching are: pneumology and phthisiology, geriatry, physiatry, occupational medicine adn toxicology. Therefore the lectures and also the practicals are held at the specialized departments:

  • Department of Occupational Medicine and Toxicology,
  • 1st Department of geriatry
  • 2nd Department of geriatry

Study Evaluation:

Assessment of the student's study results is performed especially by course assessment (CE) - writing a credit test. Students will write the credit test at 3. Department of Internal medicine. Test is held in the examination period. Publishing the list of examination questions is provided by the Head of the Clinic at least one month before the first possible date of the examination on the web page.

Content: geriatrics, pneumology and pthiseology, Occupational Medicine, Toxicology and physiatry.

Students should acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnosing and treating the underlying disease units in geriatrics, pneumology and pthiseology, Occupational Medicine, Toxicology and physiatry (physical medicine and rehabilitation). Understand the pathophysiologic nature of the disease. Acquire knowledge for differential diagnostic consideration

Practicals:

Occupational medicine and toxicology 

  1. Diagnosis, treatment, evaluation and compensation of work related health damages - occupational diseases and work related diseases. Specification of history taking. Examination methods like functional test, photopletysmography etc.
  2. X-ray in diagnostic of occupational lung diseases. Joint and muscle disorders from the view of occupational medicine.
  3. National Toxicological Information Center. How to provide information and assistance on diagnosing and treatment of all cases of acute intoxication.

Geriatrics 

  1. Seminar on geriatrics - definition, epidemiology, organisation of health care of elderly people. The process of aging. Specifications of clinical picture, diagnostic procedures and treatment in elderly peoples.
  2. Summary examination and elaboration of a patient using all the knowledge from geriatrics - repeating and training of the conversing with the patient, clinical examination and writing clinical status, medical documentation.

Physiatry (Physical medicine and rehabilitation) 

  1. Physical procedures to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Electrotherapeutical procedures (galvanic currents, diadynamic currents, interference currents, TENS, micro currents, currents for electrostimulation and electrogymnastics). Magnet therapy. Inhalation treatment. Massage. Impact waves. Laser, photo and water therapy.
